Wellington Director and CEO, Greg Allen and Mexico Sales General Manager Jorge Civeira were privileged to have joined distinguished attendees at the seminar for collaboration opportunities for New Zealand and Mexico Business, organized by COMCE.

Distinguished guests included Ambassador Alfredo Rogelio Perez Bravo, Ambassador of Mexico to New Zealand, Ambassador Mark Sinclair, Ambassador of New Zealand to Mexico and Ambassador Sergio Ley, Vice Chairman of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE). The Ambassadors were joined by Rodolfo Osorio de Carrera, Director General for Engagement with Civil Society Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mexico), Sergio Silva, Head of the Global Economic Intelligence Unit, Ministry of Economy (Mexico), Jose Antonio Duran, Chairman, Mexico-Australia-New Zealand Business Committee (COMCE), Cesar Duran, Vice chairman, Mexico-Australia-New Zealand Business Committee (COMCE) and Rhianon Berry, Trade Commissioner Mexico, Central America & Caribbean, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE)

During Greg’s presentation, he discussed Mexico’s importance as a hub for Wellington Drive’s growth in the Americas. Additionally, Greg presented that the approximately 2.3M Wellington energy efficient motors installed in commercial refrigeration units in Mexico over Wellington’s history had not only saved around 2,626 GWh of energy but the total CO
2 emission saved, was equal to around 254,686 passenger vehicles driven for one year.

Mr Burden joined Wellington in 2018 as part of the iProximity acquisition. He is an Australian entrepreneur with 30 years of experience leading start-ups and successful technology businesses. He founded and led what became Australia’s largest and best-recognised interactive and mobile services company, Legion Interactive. In 2008, he joined the ASX-listed digital media company Webfirm Group (now Adslot) as group CEO. Within three years he took it from a valuation of A$2m to a peak of A$120m. In December 2013, Mr Burden and Rohan Lean established an exciting new IoT company, iProximity, with a focus on proximity marketing and digital information services. iProximity was acquired by Wellington in July 2018.
